It might do you good to remember what Steve said in response to you over here:
Spiritual Depth Perception (Blog)
And he's said that his posts have been made from differing viewpoints and opinions, and so of course there are some contradictions.
So as you've figured out, the concept is subjective reality is something that isn't going to be readily agreed upon. You have to reach your own understanding and opinion.
You're right, the discussion is inane, but only if you expect to get answers from
others to questions that are
purely subjective. However, if you want to discuss what you think and compare that to what others think, and all together try to get closer to finding the truth, then the discussion is not at all inane.
So, to get back to the discussion, your second last post highlighted one point Steve made, but perhaps a more important part, and the idea which cleared up similar confusion for me, is the part I've bolded here:
Quote:

People, including your own avatar, are projections of consciousness. They are not projections of your ego; your ego itself is a projection of consciousness as well. |
The sticking point is the confusion between individual consciousness, and universal consciousness. And the confusion between the use of "you" to sometimes refer to an individual in the common sense, and sometimes refer to universal consciousness. Really confusing, I know. I think Steve wanted to get across the point that we're all part of universal consciousness, so he made it personal, but in doing so made it unnecessarily confusing. I think it's simpler to discuss universal consciousness in terms of a separate entity, but
understand that we're all considered part of that consciousness,
that there is no separation.
So in that post of yours where you referred to your consciousness, you're correct as long as you're referring to universal consciousness. And that's where mysterygal disagrees with you; she interprets your statement as referring to your individual consciousness. You the avatar as opposed to "You" the universal consciousness.
btw, I don't actually believe in universal consciousness and therefore not in much of SR at all. But I still try to understand it.
