very interesting,

I think of consciousness (mind) as a stable entity, but not in the same dimension as the physical body.

the mind has its own dimension--
think of how ESP, telepathy, and intention works-- the thought waves travel around the world, but not with any physical rules; they have their own set of rules in their own separate 'mind dimension.'

it helps to separate physical dimension from the thought dimension-- see that your BRAIN is only as big as your head, but your MIND extends as far as your imagination. your mind and thoughts project beyond the physical world. they are not subjects to the same laws as physical matter.

the 4 sectors of mind, body, heart, spirit, each have their own dimensions, though they are connected with channels between their junctions.
(like the pineal gland, would be where the connection between our own mind and body exists)

the way that changing the conditions of your body also affects your mind, its like, when you exercise, eat cleanly, are close to nature, etc, those have CLEARING effects-- it clears out stuff that is physical gunk that some people carry around, so that the access to your consciousness is clearer, get it? but your consciousness itself doesnt change, just how clearly you can access it.

and development and learning helps to access higher truths (think of Jung's theory of universal consciousness) there are some universal truths, that exist in higher channels, so when we access it through learning and development, we raise our consciousness, but its not actually changing itself, just changing positions. its like our minds swim up to higher levels of consciousness, as though the mind dimension is an ocean, by expanding our conscoiusness we simply move to the higher levels and float there.

so the consciousness is not a physical thing, but in its own dimension.

that's how I understand it right now.
