Also - getting a job can help you make friends! if its a customer service job at the university, you will meet people that way (bookstore, library, food service, etc). I work at a university and my department hires 4-5 student workers every year - within a couple of months they have bonded from working together. Dorms or other housing that is mainly students is also a good way to meet folks. Within your classes, try to hook up with folks for study groups, friendships can come out of those and either way, will help your grades
