What can I say? You're essentially right.
One person I really admire was Mark Twain, who was a master at using humor and wit to make an observation. Some examples:
Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself.
The more things are forbidden, the more popular they become.
The rule is perfect: in all matters of opinion our adversaries are insane.
One thing I like about humor is that it's a great way to bypass people's defensiveness.
