Suppliments are not regulated by the FDA, which means that whoever is making the suppliments can put whatever the F they choose in them. You may think that you are getting a capsule of pure essential fatty acid or your suppliment of choice, but you could also be ingesting large amount of a potentially dangerous additive.
What's more is that some suppliments produce dangerous drug-drug interactions and, since some people do not consider most suppliments drugs, they will not report that they are taking them to their doctor, which causes concern for hospitals. This is probably why they are requiring doctors to start prescribing them.
There is nothing you can get from a suppliment that you cant get (in a more trusted and readily absorbed form) from food. You are wasting your money by buying those things, in my opinion.
