The timing in conversations and also other things you mentioned, such as the girls talking over each other, are conversational styles learned from your parents and (sub)culture. It's really impossible to judge a person based on their conversational style (although this might often be the case). I suggest that you learn more about this subject (e.g.
sociolinguistics) and then inform other people around you. After that you should be able to get rid of this conversational tension (imo caused by the incompatibility of conv. styles) and others might understand your position.
