Well, you can do a medical transplant of the heart and it won't change your consciousness. Got to be in the brain, or at least in the head.
What about the pineal gland?
Pineal gland - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"The seat of the soul" for Descartes. The sixth chakra or third eye.
I think sometimes its development has been associated with intuition or phsychic habilities (high consciousness?).
The consciousness would not be the gland but in the gland. And if it goes out of your body when you die... it might be in a gas form maybe. I don't know.
What makes me think is if what happens to your body affects your consciousness or not. If so consciousness maybe something "physical", with a weight even.
