I believe the lenses themselves are creative; they don't just passively observe reality. In a single uniform universe, the idea of either-or may be true. But if our lenses allow us to access and even create different potential realities, then there's no contradiction between opposites. A multiverse is more flexible than a universe. Hard to say which one we're in right now.
