Well, I'm a carnivore. My doctor told me last month that my blood work-up was the healthiest she had ever seen, and she wished everybody's could look that optimal.
My meat consumption is minimal (no red meat, for instance, and more vegetarian meals than meaty ones) but I don't consider that I need to go vegan in order to remain vital. Also, I know two life-long (adult life, anyway) committed vegans who have had heart attacks, so I know that it's not a magic pill.
I'm sure veganism is worth trying, however, since there are so many vocal proponents who feel just peachy! (just promise me you'll never sprinkle yeast in lieu of parmesan on a woman's spaghetti.)
