Those are pretty amazing experiences, dorothy hanna!
When I was a teen, as I was dozing off one afternoon, I began to see a pentagonal symbol in front of me, which I passed through and began to wonder around a weird place. I won't go into the details, but what really set me off about the experience was how real it felt, and the massive shakes I got when I woke back up.
My body was literally vibrating as I opened my eyes, and shut them back again to drop down into a deep sleep. When I did some research, it turned out that this vibrating was a characteristic of astral traveling, and that everyone has at least one astral travel experience in their lives.
The 2nd experience was more recent, and more spooky. There I was, dreaming away, when a door in my dream opened, someone came through, and I had the most horrible experience that this person was not a part of my psyche.
It's hard to explain, but no matter how many people and places you dream up, you get the feeling that they're part of you or have arisen from you? But this presence felt terribly alien, in that he/she/it was not part of my mind. It was so jarring I woke up almost immediately in a cold sweat.
Perhaps some of you lucid dreamers could help me shed some light on the experience?
