Sounds to me like you need a boost in your self-confidence. I really believe it can be done although it requires time and effort.
First, reflect on your past successes and achievements. Here are 2 exercices Jack Canfield suggests in his book "The Success Principles".
1- Make a list of 100 achievements in your life (this can include ... learning to walk, learning to read, graduating from school, etc). The goal here is really to get to 100.
2- Split your life in 3 sections (if you are 30 years old ... 1-10 ; 11-20 ; 21-30). For each part of your life, list your 3 biggest accomplishments.
The goal here is to make you realize that you have accomplished many things in your life and this, increases your confience in yourself.
This is only a first step. In your work, identify small tasks and complete them successfully. That's another step to increase your confidence.
Another way to help increase your confidence is to listen to motivational CD's.
Finally, surround yourself with people who believe in you and will encourage you.
Good luck!
