If you want to get substantial traffic to your blog (and maybe even make some money from your blogging) be prepared to invest at least one year of effort into your blog WITHOUT seeing much progress.
It takes time to bould quality links to your blog and to start getting good search engine results rankings.
If you love what you are doing then this won't be a problem though
