Well a few weeks on from buying the Insight CD here's my recent post about it:
I’ve now been using the Insight CD for meditation for over three weeks and I am very happy with the results. Carrying on from my original post Insight CD I’ll let you know how much success I’ve had using it.
The Insight CD has 3 tracks on it for meditation and so far I’ve only listened to track 1 which is called The Journey. It’s recommended but that you listen only to track 1 for the first ten days to get accustomed to it then if you like progress on to the second two tracks which take you into a deeper meditative state.
The first few times listening to The Journey I probably projected my expectations onto what it would do as I found it difficult to clear my mind but as a bonus I stayed awake (I tend to relax so much I fall asleep). Now when putting on my headphones I know I’ll consistently be in a relaxed state and usually am within 2-5 minutes.
The effect of the first 25 minutes track can vary though depending on my mood. I have found myself listening to 10 minutes then having so many great ideas I have to stop, write them down and that’s it I’m on a creative frenzy for the rest of the night!
At other times I’m a sleep by the end of the track and don’t wake up for hours. Most of the time though I can listen to the rain falling on the track and slowly start to clear my thoughts, which in itself having the quietness of mind and seeing what your brain is churning over is very interesting. What is very weird and something I’m not conscious of doing before is kind of like day dreaming. I’m in a deep dream like when you’re a sleep but at the same time conscious of things around me and noise and can stop dreaming when I want, a very intense and deep visualisation that I consciously control.
Now for the benefits of when I’m not meditating to the Insight CD. I am certainly able to focus on the task in hand for greater periods of time. And I’m able and seem to want to be in this focused state a lot more often. An example of this is when working and not distracting myself with Messenger, MySpace and general web surfing. I’m able set a target or goal of what I want to achieve in the next hour then do it. I’m finding it easier to multi-task as well without getting stressed.
Generally I’m feeling more grounded, balanced and centred. Now whether this is because of the Insight CD or just because I’m taking the time to meditate regularly I don’t know. The end result is the same though because of the Insight CD I do meditate and do get the benefits.
