I've made a sweat lodge out of some green saplings lashed together and two old plastic tarps. The total cost would be about $40.00 for the tarps, if they were bought new. Of course, this wasn't anything remotely resembling portable, and we did need one person to stay out of the lodge to tend the fire and pass the glowing hot rocks inside with tongs. We had it near a pond that would half-freeze in the winter. After a good hour-long sweat, we would all run screaming out through the snow and leap into the frigid water. A bunch of Kentucky Hillbillies can have all kinds of fun on a shoestring budget!
