Where did you find someone suggesting that the claims should be blindly accepted?
And what would you consider "sufficient evidence"? I would argue that the
only way to gather evidence on IM claims is to try it. If it works, then that's sufficient evidence to accept it. If it doesn't, that's sufficient evidence to reject it. So the only possible way to decide what to believe is to try it yourself.
Which, IIRC, is exactly what Steve has proposed in every article he's written on IM: try it yourself, and see what you think.
