Default Selfish shellfish

I just wanted to comment on the whole notion of selfishness and "I want."

I love that we get to want stuff and I love that most of us have issues with feeling deserving of things. We *are* selfish. Human nature. And I am sick of thinking of it as a bad thing.

When we help someone it is because we want to feel good about ourselves, and this is great! We don't help someone because we have no emotional satisfaction from it. We make it mean that we are worthy because we have made a contribution.

Of course, we were born worthy and do not have to jump through hoops to get to worthy.

When we help others, we are helping them get what they want and we are not accusing them of being selfish.

In short, it is OK to want. It is OK to wish for. Don't squash your fleshy self-centered desires or they will run you. One caution, you can get a lot more (not a lot less) out of life by being committed to ever growing your insight as far as what makes you tick.

I am selfishly devoted to learning who I am and what makes me tick. I am selfishly devoted to others doing the same.
