I guess you could say I am a recovering internet addict myself, but not to the extent I've seen others addicted. If you spend too much time on the Internet, it is filling a void in your life and you are using the Internet to fill that void. Here is a suggestion: Go one day without using your computer for anything. Then see what you decide to do instead. If you decide to go out for a walk or exercise, or even just sit there and think, you will see that there are many more meaningful activites you could be doing. Go somewhere with a friend. I like starlet's suggestion of setting a timer for a predetermined amount of time each day and once that time is up, you can no longer surf the internet. I feel that part of it is a lack of self-discipline, and the other part of it is that it fills a void and what you need to do is consciously fill that void with something else.
