My teacher for the last 5 years has been a channeled being, so I'm pretty used to seeing conscious channels at work. I've never seen Esther channeling live but if I feel into her, yes she is channeling.
A channeled being is just like you or me, but they don't have a physical focus (a body) at the moment. Much of our communication with others happens in the ethers rather than through the physical voice. But we tend to ignore all that other stuff and wait for the voice to deliver the message.
When you say Esther has some sort of spirit speaking through of her. Well then what are we? We're beings who communicate through a physical aspect also. The being speaking through us is us.
When I write blog/forum entries or talk with my friends, I sometimes channel my teacher. I can see him as being separate from me or I can see him as another aspect of myself coming through, just as Abraham is another aspect of Esther.
