I'm not sure if this is NLP related, but we do such stuff in our coaching anyway. It's called
time distortion.
For example, if I'm badly deprived of sleep and I only have say, 4 hours to sleep, I will close my eyes and slow everything down. So, my breathing slows down, the images I see inside my head slowed down considerably. It's like watching a video playing on slow-motion mode. Then I tell myself I will wake up feeling refreshed and as if I slept for 8 hours.

Yup! I've blogged about this perception on time in the past too. When we feel that time is crawling, chances are we are stuck in a situation where we dread or doing something that we don't enjoy.
Similarly, when time flies, you know you are in love (with the thing you're doing or person you're with haha).
The rate and speed time moves is fixed. Yet it is our perception of time that is giving us the illusion of reality. That's why we find waiting 5 minutes in queue sooo long while 50 minutes of cuddle just isn't enough!
