I was in my late 20's before I learned to drive. When I finally learned, it was the 'sink or swim' aproach. I bought a car, and had a friend take me out to an empty parking lot to learn. The car was a stick shift, but I only stalled once before I got the hang of the clutch. After that, I did a few loops of the parking lot and practiced parking a few times. After a few days of puttering about the lot, I went with a commercial driving instruction company to get used to driving in traffic. The test was a breeze because it was in an automatic, so I didn't have to concentrate on shifting. If you do have problems, the trick is to 'get back on the horse' and try again.
