I also think you've misunderstood the question. The question was:
What if?
What would 'missing your calling' mean? That you had a totally miserable life? That your life was completely pointless? That you failed to fulfill some kind of predestined life requirement and will be punished in the afterlife? That nobody will remember you 100 years after you're dead?
What are you afraid of happening if you 'miss' some 'true' happiness that you can't even clarify at the moment? Does that mean all other possible happinesses that life can hold have no value? How will you know when you've found 'true' happiness and your 'calling' if you don't even know what those things are now?
