Default Having a hard time being grateful when the achievement is great

OK, so something great just happened to me, and I have a hard time being grateful. I am pleased in a way, but I am not happy, and not grateful to myself for working hard/obtaining this or grateful to the universe/God for giving me this opportunity. If I accomplish something like this, I kind of attribute it to luck or whatever circumstances, and it really does not feel like an accomplishment.

In a way it's so much more satisfying when I something like a rejection comes along; my tears and pain are miserable and I feel awful, but I learn something from it and the whole process is so much bigger.

Any suggestions on how to start accepting and celebrating your achievements? How do you do it (perhaps you can inspire me)?
