I find Alanis Morissette very heartwarming and motivating, especially when she sings "unplugged" - she has such a wonderful voice and she puts so much feeling into her songs! At the moment my favorite is "That I would be good".
For lying on my bed and relaxing I like Tracy Chapman.
When I really need to pick myself up
listening to music is sometimes not enough - but singing along to a CD and dancing trough the room never fail!
Songs like Splish Splash (Bobby Darin) or the Banana Boat Song and similar "swingy" oldies may not be what you'd call inspirational, but they can grip the body and make it wriggle and swing. You can use them to simply shake off gloom and tiredness!
Great sing-along music for me besides such oldies is film music like Walt Disney's Jungle Book and musicals like Hair or Chicago.
I also find my housefold chores more enjoyable when I turn them into a musical performance - just make sure the curtains are drawn and the windows closed
