Hi. Yes, I've used several and I am one (but possibly too expensive..."really restricted budget") but I'll give you a few tips on what I know.
1. Coaching schools range between $1500 - $10,000. I looked into quite a few and decided to go with Coach Training Alliance. No regrets there. $2400 for a 6 month course....learned a ton and thought it was worth it. I would DEFINITELY research it before you jump into anything as far as training. Google lots of coaches, see what they're charging and email them and ask them where they went to school. I know there are LOTS of great training programs. I'd also check into ICF (International Coaching Federation) to see what training programs are "accredited"....a very, very loose term since the industry is so new and not really regulated too much yet.
2. You get what you pay for (not always, but generally). In the early days, I used coaches that were under $50/hour and they didn't have the experience of the confidence to help me get what I needed. They were also very new and I'm sure I was their guinea pig. I think there are some good coaches that work for under $80 an hour, but I don't personally know any.
3. There are life coaches that "apprentice". I actually have 2 at the moment. The only tip I can give you there is to take a look at my website...if that type of Life Coaching appeals to you (LifeVision), then PM/email me and you'll get a killer deal working with an apprentice! (that knows what she's doing!)
4. Go for it! It's the next step in getting from where you are to where you want to be.
