I read in a recent book 'the power of place' which is not a new agey book but by a science writer about the effect of the environment on people (obvious things like more crowded cities result in higher levels of tension and alienation) but anyway, one thing she remarked about is that solar flares cause increases in certain activity and psychics claim it interrupts psychic abililtes, one scientist said he believed that it was possible - though we still don't understand how - that thoughts can be transmitted, he was embarrassed to say so because of the aggresively anti psychic atomosphere of the scientific community and to be fair because of all the charlatans and hustlers out there.
So my feeling is this: the human mind and universe are much much more complex than we understand and that mind operates in ways outside the senses...so while i wouldn't just sit around trying to wish things into existence, I believe that my mind can come up with solutions to things in ways I could never imagine.
same goes with paranormal - i think most ghost claims are false, but there could be something to them - 'echos' of the past (wrinkles in time/space) like the imprint of a fossil, or real spirits
