Yikes! Seems like you have processed all the variables here pretty completely and you're second guessing yourself. It was a messy situation in a lot of ways and aside from stealing the larger office, it sounds like Bob just did what a person hired to do that job would naturally do in a proactive manner. Any your boss tried to accommodate you to the very best of his ability. Why not just accept the "messiness" of it...process your resentment with EFT or some other tool and get on with it. I think the key sentence in your whole post is "I would love to run this new office at this great University." If that's really true....well, that's the bottom line. You might also ask yourself if Bob had been the one that was away and you stepped into the company, would you have been able to handle it in a perfect way that resulted in no hard feelings. And if you could...well just be grateful for your exceptional sensitivity to other people and consider it a special gift!
