I think it is important for each person to find a way that works best for that person in these things, just like in life itself.
It's interesting to compare notes but I can see that it's easy to get stuck on things being "right" or "wrong", rather than "working for me" or not.
You write in English very clearly...except for your signature, I would not have guessed that English is a second language for you.
Still what you bring up here about "yo quiero" is really important and a subtle distinction that makes a lot of what you have been saying much more understandable! "Yo Quiero" also means "I love", correct?
So that would bring us right back to "I am excited or happy that......is true"
