I have had a similar experience with animal guides.In my true dream which is what I call them because they are more vivid than ordinary dreams. I was in a stable and there was a horse in front of me. As I was patting the horse I realised there was something unusual about the animal in that its eyes possesed too much awareness, I said to it you are not a horse and straight away it vanished and to my left was a woman of about 20 years of age crouched in the corner. I asked her "how do you shape shift". All she said was you must go down the hole and strike the dragon between the eyes. Later I understood that she had ignored my question and was addressing my current need to face my fears. I also understand now that shamanic dreams each have a test to prove our own awareness. If I hadn't the awareness inside my dreams to spot the unusual flaws that giveaway the pressence of meaning then it would have continued on as any other dream. Let the sleepers sleep and let those who are awakening wake.
