I never quite thought of it like that when I read it. Good alternate viewpoint!
I can see where the message that Spencer Johnson tries to get across is a good one (change is constant and you have to accept that to live life), but the mice analogy seems a bit too close to the 'rat race' view of things.
Another great business book that I got a ton out of is
The Spirituality of Success by Vincent Roazzi.
