i don't think it's just cats.
dogs can sense sickness also - take this, as one of many examples: Can Dogs Smell Cancer?, or this Seizure-Alert Dogs Save Humans With Early Warnings

i forgot what it was called, but i think the Egyptians had some type of dog they liked also. animals are amazing creatures.
