Wolfgang I think we are very close to congruence but this is how I would state it:
The positive polarity focuses on cultivating a love of others and tends to sacrifice or ignore cultivation of a love for himself. With this love of others, he seeks out service. Service to others is the creed of the postitive polarity, and in order to best serve he must certainly keep his own "self" in good shape, therefore one lesson is to love himself as he loves others. But since there are many others and only one of himself, the positive polarity will naturally place the far majority of his efforts on serving others.
So for instance the positive polarity strives to dedicate his focus 99%+ to service to others because he has cultivated an intense love for them. As part of this he hopefully automatically reserves a small amount for himself, as he hopefully sees himself as equally worthy of love as any other individual. These efforts brings him towards unity with the universe. The natural separation that all people feel diminishes as he walks the path. The path lasts for eons - fault, failure and fear are continual companions. IMO anyone who reaches 99% polarization towards others has certainly moved beyond enlightenment and is no longer a resident of this Earth. The average polarity on Earth is probably somewhere around 25% service to others, 75% service to self. (This is a total guess)
The two polarities deal with fears (which certainly include fears of all kinds) through faith. Faith is the answer to fear, and the positive polarity puts his faith in the rightness of existence. His faith gives him courage and his courage gives him strength to act in service to others. He cultivates this faith in the rightness of the universe as he cultivates his love of others.
The negative polarity conversely cultivates a love for himself. As he comes to love himself more and more, his fear becomes primarily a fear of others and the pain and suffering others can cause him. Over time he learns to overcome this fear through faith in himself - faith in his own superiority. He separates himself from others as if he were different and better than them. His consiousness is like a black hole - he loves himself at the expense of others and sees others merely as tools to serve himself.
Fear is depolarizing wherever you may stand. In order to polarize on the negative path you must overcome your fear of others through faith in yourself. Once a negative entity starts to polarize and has overcome a certain amount of fear of others, if this fear returns and he fails to master it he will depolarized and lose power. In order to regain his polarity he must overcoming that fear once again.
Conversely...
The positive polarity fears himself. In the past he has hurt others through callousness, unsensitivity, ignorance, or lack of control - he did not intend to hurt others but it happens anyway. He fears his own power, as he knows that this power has the potential to cause harm. "First do no harm," says the Hippocratic oath and doing harm is the ultimate fear of the lightworker. To overcome this fear he calls for faith in the rightness of the whole universe, faith that "All is as it should be" and faith that the universe will help him to serve the greater good. His fear of doing harm is paralyzing, and to overcome the paralysis he meditates to find faith in the rightness of the universe. The faith gives him courage and with courage he can act.
He acts by serving others as much as possible and cultivating an intense love for them. Through these actions he comes to know unity. He comes to see that All Is One.
Fear is overcome by faith, and the place a person puts his faith determines his polarity.
Polarity is expressed through love and service, either to self or others.
The further a person polarizes, the stronger the call of the opposite side becomes. A person may be a darkworker who spends many years overcoming fear of others. He has faith in his own superiority. His faith gives him courage, his courage allows him to act in service to himself.
As he continues this process the light side calls to him. He may look back to days when he felt love for others and may yearn for that feeling again. If he indulges this love, he will depolarize and move towards the light side.
This is where Darth Vader remembered the love he felt for his mother, for Padme, and for the family he always wanted. He sees Luke being electrocuted by the Emperor and yearns to feel that love again. The light side beckons and its call becomes irresistable. He wants to release his compassion, to love others deeply as he once did. He heeds the call, kills the Emperor, saves his son, and instantly switches polarity rededicating his willpower towards serving others. He also could have made the opposite choice, and the key is that it was entirely his choice.
He joins Obi-Wan and Yoda in the spirit world, positively oriented once again.
The Choice underlies all of our actions here on Earth, and as we choose the same side again and again our polarity is strengthened.
The goal is to polarize but The Choice is ours.
