I don't think that is quite the right way to think of it either... If we go back to Steve's favorite example when explaining this (Star Wars), Anakin was turned to the dark side by FEAR of the LOSS of LOVE. Anakin didn't so much love himself - he was attached to the form of his loved ones (mother, Padme).

Anakin's turn to the darkside was through a need to control the world of form (save a loved one from death). A Jedi however lives in a state of non-attachment.

That's also why I'm not fully going along with Steve's "Darkworker" theme here. You can strive for power in the world of form (what Steve calls a dorkworker, and what most of our Western civilization was built on) ~ or raise your consciousness and EVOLVE (as Eckhart Tolle speaks of).
