We agree that darkworkers would only do something bad if they could get away with it scot-free. The thing is, with current technology you would have to be niave to think that you can get away with anything scot-free. Fear-mongering isn't exactly effective for long. An adept darkworker cares deeply about his reputation for money making reasons. There can't really be any skeletons in the closet.
My friend is going to be making close 500k a year working for himself. You can multiply that by ten once he has a few employees. Do you really think he's dumb enough to risk his income by doing something immoral?
Maybe you think that he would use fear and control tactics on his employees, but you'd be wrong. Happy employees mean higher production, which means more money for him. That's just good management.
