Psychologists agree that goals play a fundamental role in human behavior. Psychologist Alfred Adler wrote, “We cannot think, feel, will, or act without the perception of a goal.” Another prominent psychologist even went to so far as to say that a goal-less state of indifference could be described as “psychological death.”
