I believe there are soul mates. It doesn't happen to "everyone" or sometimes you can skip a life or two without being with your soulmate. I know people (including me but others too) who have had other lives with their life partner and are just meant to be together because they 'work well' as a couple on earth. People who think there are no soul mates AT ALL in the world are maybe a weeeee-bit jealous (?).
Of course there are soul connections as well, many of them, whether it is a short relationship with a feeling of "knowing" the person, or with very close friends, or with family members. And there are probably way many more cases of souls connections than soul mates.
Just keep an open mind that "soul mates" also exist on earth.
