I'm of the view that it is what you make of it. I think blaming Steve or anyone else for a perceived deterioration of the forums is a deferment of responsibility.
If a person would like to see certain articles, topics or discussions, then a person can initiate them. Do a bit of research and write their own short discourse on the topic, or start a thread, etc. If discussion turns into bickering debates, then perhaps the moderators can be persuaded to wave the peace flag more often.
But if people sit back and wait for the specific material they want to arrive... well then I guess this is a bad forum, just like every other forum will be.
Take the initiative! Seize the day! Be the article you want to read! Hoo-ha!
