The same questions is on my mind (thanks for forming it so well, NDavid). I would really enjoy it if Steve would talk about this aspect of polarization. I think everyone is eagerly anticipated Steve's next entry about this topic.
Another question I'd love to see addressed: Where did Steve come by this concept of polarization, and how come I've never heard of it before?
