My Blog - Forest Grove Live

I live in a small town of about 20,000 people. We are struggling as a town, and many businesses have come and gone. I am struggling myself with my pc repair shop. Our city websites just plain suck - it seems noone has heard of web 2.0 out here, so I started this blog. I got inspiration from this forum and from other cityblogs like ibrattleboro.com. I wanted to help promote my town, see if I could get people involved, and see if I could make a little money out of it as well. My site is only 2 weeks old and my traffic is steady and growing - all by word of mouth. Last week the city sent me items to post on the blog for upcoming events!

I am in the process of converting it over to Joomla to make it easier for people to log on and post their own stories. I'm not sure if WP will handle what I want to do. I also need to learn more about marketing and adsense - but so far I am making something - little by little. And for 2 weeks old I'm excited. I also have 1 dedicated writer who sends me beer reviews. Hoping to get more.

The polls are doing really well - last week I interviewed the winner of the coffee poll and she was so happy she won I got a promise for paid advertising and a free pound of coffee beans. I'm hoping with this months pizza poll to get a free pizza

(at least a free lunch)
