This. This post hit what the video was lacking (or perhaps what I missed in the video) - the source of the information.
Thank you. This is the internet, and while it's full of good information, the internet is also full of crap. I trust very little that I haven't confirmed independently.
Additionally, the video suggested an awful lot of good *correlations* but to my knowledge (ie, if I didn't miss something) didn't give its sources the way you just did, and more importantly didn't mention causative studies. (By causative, I mean studies where X number of people have problem Y, and half are given the supplement and look at how their stats changed.) The sheer weight of the correlations suggests that vit D is incredibly promising, but I didn't feel like the video touched on much actual causal evidence. I liked the podcast I linked to because it gave enough logic to overcome some of the possibility of pure coincidence. It felt like the video came from a much more emotional place -- which is GREAT as a call to arms, but less so for the persuasion of someone with a science background.
