I don't really know a ton about polarization, as the first time I heard about it was through Steve. Maybe look at your intention for learning art. Obviously when you are just learning something it's hard to help others with it, but you can still help those that are worse then you (especially if you have doing it for 8 years. Believe me, I am worse than you). Here are two paths to being an art master that come to mind:

Lightworker: Sets the intention to become a great artist to create masterpieces that inspire others to do well in their lives, or to eventually open an art school and teach others art.

Darkworker: Sets the intention to become the greatest artist around, and make a lot of money selling his pieces, as well as reap the glory and fame that go along with being a talented artist.

Both these paths utilize polarization to get to the same place.

Sounds like you are a little conflicted. You initially just want to learn it for yourself, but in the long run you want to help others.

Just a thought though
