What do people here think is the best way to go about quitting your day job?

- The Steve Pavlina 'burn the boats' way, which may involve taking a loan, living off credit cards etc.
- The safe and slow way, by gradually building up a second income in your spare time.

Does anyone have experience of how either worked out for them? If so, I'd love to hear.

At the moment I'm feeling like the safe and slow way may never give me enough time to achieve a good second income.
