It was temporary...but it lasted for a few years, on and off... I had real issues with my hearing, and it came to a head when I went totally deaf in one ear and partially deaf in the other. I mentioned it because I read your reply to ssandra, who also spoke of hearing issues...so I didn't think it was meant to be related to only hearing loss that comes with age... but I may have misread it?
It is also interesting that I have had a really strong ability to listen and really HEAR what people are saying to me, and I got so many people coming up and using me for free counselling sessions...strangers even off the street...that I think it was my ears way of saying "enough"...but I guess that's another topic alltogether
