Thanks so much for your post. My youngest son (who, admittedly, is still very young) can be kind of a... jerk. I have felt from the time he was born that it was my job to accept the choices he made. From the time he was two, and let me know he REALLY wanted to eat meat (I'm a vegetarian), to now, when he can be really selfish and non-empathetic. Not that I don't set boundaries *for myself*, because of course I do, but I've known it's not my place to try to make him be someone he's not.
