don't be worried about the expense -- you can get great deals on supplements by shopping around and comparing.

i am borderline hypothyroid and i take good levels of B6, Tyrosine, B12, Iodine(Kelp), Folic Acid, Pantothenic Acid, acetyl-l-carnitine, alpha lipoic acid, etc. etc. as specific supplements, plus Solgar's Female Multiple which is an excellent woman's multi-vitamin/mineral and has good levels of nearly everything in it. they clearly keep up with the research.

solgar's female multiple is not cheap - but even so, because I shop around and monitor the levels that i am taking (meaning that i can split some pills in half, like my supplemental magnesium, manganese, chromium etc.), I am paying only 75 British pence a day for everything. incredible really.

for views on the research done on supplement levels to promote health (instead of just to guard against obvious disease, which is only what the RDA guidance is for),
i would recommend dr. ray sahelian's website,
also dr. weil although his site now contains conflicting information because his views have changed over the years for some things but they don't update all his Q&As accordingly, so watch out (case in point, on his site in places he says no more than 400-800 mcg of Vitamin D and in other places he says every adult needs at least 1000 mcg because his views have changed over time) --
also advice by Slagle,
and advice by Lieberman.
