If I may be permitted to speak for him, I would say that he isn't judging Steve really, but rather he is judging the LoA's effectiveness at protecting a marriage, especially the marraige between two of the world's most respected LoA advocates.

I'm pretty sure the argument is that the LoA experts wouldn't ever find themselves in the situation where their marriage isn't working to begin with.
We could say the same thing about the movement's biggest leaders getting terminal illnesses and dying before their time. If anyone finds themselves scurrying to put their affairs in order before they die, then they clearly did not mean to manifest their own demise. Not sure if this has happened yet, but it's sure something to look out for.
