I only used Wordpress so I can't compare it to any other service, but I can tell you it is amazing.
You would better chose a domain name that includes some keywords, such as success, motivation, efficient, growth, habits etc. But only if you can find a name you like. Use dashes between words if the name is longer, but try not to use more than 5 words.
Research the major hosting providers and see what seems more trustworthy. There was a thread in here about hosting services.
It is very easy to insert ads of any kind into a WP blog if you know how to modify a basic css and html file. Php is very similar to html and the php code itself, you usually get it from various tutorials and just copy-paste it into your pages, but it's good to understand html so you know where to put what.
