What cured me of my tv habit was a year in a foreign country where the only television that existed was four channels worth of last year's Australian soap operas, and endless games of cricket and rugby
I so still enjoy a few things (The Amazing Race, the cooking channel sometimes, things like that) but I find the endless advertising really bothers me now and disrupts the show too much. So generally, I wait and see it on dvd.
I did allow my mom to sucker me into Grey's Anatomy when I was living with her. Ironically, its recent decline has actually helped me by re-engaging mme with my writing. I realized that I much preferred my own imaginary world to the tv word because at least with my own writing, I can treat the characters the way I want to without somebody mucking them up for me
