Steve has kids, and he's made it very clear he's involved in their lives. I'll bet he'll check in with them and Erin before he jets off anywhere, if it will affect visitation or availability.
My ex-husband became a MORE involved and available dad after we separated. There's no illusion of "no kids" there.
