I think you need to go with your gut on this one and make your own decision. If this class is not something you have any interest in, then why would you pursue it. You are better off dropping the class and investing that time into something you enjoy and that will serve you in the future.
Having said that, I know how strong the power of influence parents can have over our lives. From what I can tell, it will be very uncomfortable for you to confront them and go against their wishes.
If you explain your overall vision and goals and show them that this class does not fit your master plan, they may be more understanding. Then again, they may not
Ultimately it is your life and the sooner you can stand up for your own wishes despite how hard it may be, the better off you will be.
