I agree that formal education (university) is not the only way of learning something and it doesn't necessarily mean people graduating from it know how to put theory into practice. But what it comes down to is your own personal choice, what you do with any kind of knowledge and how you make use of it. No knowledge is ever useless

What would happen if you left school? If you showed them you were serious about what you want to do, they would have to find a way to eventually accept it.
